Natural Remedies for Some Common Ailments

Natural remedies are a great way to reduce your dependence on prescription and over-the-counter drugs.  Skip that trip to the pharmacy and try some of these home-spun solutions:

Headaches

Massage can work wonders for stress-related headaches. Start under the ears and work your way to your forehead, then continue with the rest of the head, the neck and then the shoulders.

Aromatherapy can also be used. Dilute 1 drop of lavender essential oil diluted in ½ tsp of jajoba oil and rub the mixture along the hairline.

Rosemary can be useful for headaches caused by the cold. Boil a handful of rosemary in 1L of water, and pour into a mug. Cover your head with a towel and inhale the steam.

Nausea

Rest is the best cure. Use a cold compress on the head to help you ride out the discomfort. It is better to allow yourself to vomit and clear your system out, then to try to suppress the feeling.

A fresh piece of ginger root steeped in your tea can help. For a mild, nauseating feeling, try peppermint or chamomile tea. Women with morning sickness can mix of 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar, 1 tbsp of honey, and some water to be taken before bed.

Fatigue

The first consider whether you are getting enough sleep. A poor diet, containing too many unhealthy, fatty foods, can also cause fatigue.

Exercise can help reinvigorate your body, and it is best if you can exercise outside. Eating one egg a day is also recommended, as they contain protein, iron, and a host of other nutrients that will help.

Gingseng has been used by Asian athletes for energy throughout history. Take 2 grams of ginseng powder a day for six weeks, but after that period you should wait for at least two weeks before taking it again.

Natural remedies are a wonderful way to take control of your health. However, it is important to remember to see your doctor to make sure your condition isn’t a symptom of a more serious health problem.
